PaperCare offers a range of educational programmes for school teachers, from one-off bespoke workshops to longer term residencies at schools. The scheme operates in wide mainstream and special needs (SEND) educational contexts. PaperCare provides methodologies of performance as tools to shape new understandings of how school teachers experience their practice of caregiving and the provision of care for their students. It provides practical possibilities of explorations of care in schools as a practice with particular physical and emotional demands which also has aesthetic qualities. It thus, becomes a vehicle for voicing, valuing and supporting the caring practice of teachers. In a crucial response to pervasive neoliberal educational agendas, PaperCare advocates for intuitive & affective forms of care in schools, which preserve teachers’ humanness and well-being through performance techniques and artistic makings.
